I'm going to check out your blog now.T Childshttp://tchildschristianityblog.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2872289811002419028.post-30259384559816500892011-10-12T07:28:13.326+01:002011-10-12T07:28:13.326+01:00Please forgive any presumption.
However, you have ...Please forgive any presumption.
However, you have written about it so I shall comment.
First is that depression is often chemically related. It can be as simple as that and the emotional aspects are body chemicals.
I have a friend with a diabetic son who said to his mother: But you don't understand ma, I feel terrible. And so he did.
But that is not my area of knowledge although I think the simplicity about it all can help? It is not to diminish it but to put it in context.
Physically we are a functioning mechanism.
But God. Yes. God is above any limitations whatsoever.
My perception is that if we can surrender everything to God, that perfect peace is possible. I also realise I have little room to speak because I mess up all the time.
If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and He is in you and you in Him you are at a very good place to be. Perfect peace in Him.
Yes. I believe the human condition is intensely influenced by the spiritual. And forces against God will become even more influential as the consensus is to turn ever further away from His guidance. In the West we have been tremendously protected by what one could inaccurately describe as a "Christian heritage". But as a society we are moving ever further away from it.
If you are being subject to negative spiritual forces the answer is as simple as it is difficult to stick with. Simply surrender everything to the authority of the Lord Jesus.
No mumbo jumbo or warfare with demons.
We are not capable of fighting them.
In Jude 1:9 it says: "Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee."
It is not up to us to fight it but simply to rest in the Lord Jesus, in His love and mercy and complete forgiveness, and let Him deal with it.
Let the Lord Jesus deal with it all and see how it goes.
He can do anything!
In His love.
JohnJohn Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05363879677850548257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2872289811002419028.post-89915755023449757552011-10-10T19:21:04.777+01:002011-10-10T19:21:04.777+01:00I always enjoy your blog Joan, and try to check it...I always enjoy your blog Joan, and try to check it out at least once a day.T Childshttp://tchildschristianityblog.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2872289811002419028.post-52410483932843135182011-10-06T01:27:12.288+01:002011-10-06T01:27:12.288+01:00Joan said...

I didn't want to do anything but just sit there or lie there.

Finding cancers in your life-that's very profound Daz. I agree with this completely; I think we all need to re-assess our lives and friendships and just what makes up our life from time to time. I have had one or two toxic friendships from time to time, and have learnt now to be a bit choosy when it comes to that. I am also quite self-contained now, partly because of the depression and I don't willingly put myself in situations that could exacerbate stress or anything that could trigger depression.

I appreciate your comments very much; thanks!T Childshttp://tchildschristianityblog.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2872289811002419028.post-31877477645269907102011-10-01T21:22:18.867+01:002011-10-01T21:22:18.867+01:00Hey TC - having had depression myself I understand...Hey TC - having had depression myself I understand what you're saying and appreciate your courage for opening up on the subject.

I always found that focussing on a task for a long period of time was immensely difficult, while things that I might have done before and knew how to do seemed daunting. The world felt huge while I felt small.

Perhaps you can relate to some of this?

Taking a step back from faith for a second, you'll occasionally find cancers in your life, be they situations or people - removing them from you and yourself from them is always a great help. Finding and doing things you're good at is always good for the mojo and helps build that base of self-confidence from which you can turn it round.

ATB

DazDaz Pearcehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07935407418226324575noreply@blogger.com
